Eden Hazard spent seven years at Stamford Bridge with Chelsea but could have been a player for their City rivals Tottenham.

Chelsea legend Eden Hazard has made a sensational revelation about his transfer to the Premier League.

Hazard has revealed that Chelsea was not his first choice when he made the decision to leave Ligue 1 for the Premier League.

Eden Hazard failed to impress at Real Madrid.

The Belgian joined the Blues in the summer of 2012 in what was a well-followed transfer tussle between them and Manchester United.

Hazard wanted Tottenham

According to a report from TalkSport, the Belgian has now revealed that Tottenham, not Chelsea, were his preferred choice.

Chelsea won the battle for the signature of the then-impressive 21-year-old LOSC Lille star.

Ferguson
Sir Alex Ferguson was a huge Hazard admirer.

The Blues paid £32 million to prise him from Lille after an excellent campaign for the Ligue -1 club.

But over a decade after that transfer, the 32-year-old says he was close to joining rivals Spurs but changed his mind after the North London club missed out on the Champions League.

"It’s true that Tottenham tempted me because it was a young team which was third in the league," Hazard per TalkSports.

Hazard
Eden Hazard left Chelsea a legend.

"Unfortunately, the end of the season did not go well. They did not reach the Champions League, which tipped the balance."

"The directors told me they were going to recruit good players with whom I could play decent football,” he added.

Hazard scored over a century of goals for Chelsea.

“The title of European champions and Champions League qualification counted for a lot because the club was not doing well in the league.

"Once Chelsea won the final, it was a natural choice."

Tottenham and Chelsea that season

Despite Hazard’s revelation, Spurs did finish in the top four that season while Chelsea finished sixth.

However, the Blues went on to beat Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich in the final of the Champions League that summer.

That victory meant Chelsea replaced Spurs in the Champions League, as only four clubs could represent England at the time, a rule which has since been changed by UEFA.
