Harambee Stars' defender Erick 'Marcelo' Ouma is nearing a significant transfer from AIK amidst interest from several European clubs.

Harambee Stars defender Erick 'Marcelo' Ouma is on the verge of a significant transfer from Swedish powerhouse AIK to Polish top-flight side Rakow Czestochowa.

This development comes amid growing interest from several European clubs, marking a pivotal moment in Ouma's illustrious career.

Ouma has been a standout performer at AIK, attracting attention from various clubs across Europe, including Spain's Espanyol.

However, it is Rakow Czestochowa, the current Polish champions, who are now leading the race to secure his services.

As reported by Sportbladet, the Polish side is in the final stages of negotiations with AIK, with both parties optimistic about a successful outcome.

Pulse Sports had already hinted at AIK's intention to sell Otieno this winter, and now those plans seem to be coming to fruition.

AIK's sporting director Thomas Berntsen acknowledged the potential move, stating, "It's not good for us losing him, but at the same time, it's exciting.

"He deserves the move and maybe should have gone a couple of years ago. As it stands now, we will get a good price for him, and on his side, he will get to secure the future for himself and his family."

Otieno's journey with AIK has been remarkable, with 99 appearances to his name.

His departure, while a blow to AIK, opens the door for Axel Björnström, known as 'Acke', to step into the starting role.

Berntsen commented on this transition, noting, "Erick has been very good, but we believe that 'Acke' can make top performances for us if we trust him. However, he will also face tough competition."

Rakow Czestochowa's interest in Otieno is a testament to his growing reputation in European football.

The club, currently fourth in the Polish league, is looking to bolster its defense and sees Otieno as a key addition.

The transfer, if completed, will not only be a significant step up for Otieno but also a substantial financial boost for AIK, with Vasalund, his former club,  set to receive 30 percent of the transfer fee.
