They brought joy to many during their playing days with the national team, the Uganda Cranes, and they are not about to leave the football scene.

Former Cranes stars Hassan Wasswa Mawanda, Tonny Mawejje, Mike Mutyaba, Brian Umony and Saddam Juma are some famous faces attending the ongoing month-long CAF C coaching course organized by the Uganda Football Players Association.

Former Cranes captain Hassan Wasswa Mawanda considers this a step in the right direction: "To me, it's a good step because I am still serving football."

Forward Brian Umony is also excited about the development and can not wait to learn about the game as an administrator.

"It's a great step towards equipping ourselves with more knowledge and preparing for life after football. We must be involved but also informed," Umony told Pulse Sports.

Like it is the norm everywhere, several former players have ventured into coaching with Ibra Ssekagya standing tall. He was recently named the New York Redbulls II head coach.
