Rukundo began his career in Uganda with Maroons FC and KCCA FC before moving on to play in Rwanda with APR in 2017.

Former KCCA FC and Police FC defender Denis Rukundo has left Rwandan side AS Kigali following the expiry of his contract.

The right-back joined AS Kigali in 2021 after crossing from Ugandan outfit Police FC.

AS Kigali was the second team in Rwanda that Rukundo played for, the first being giants APR, whom he joined from Uganda’s KCCA FC in 2017.

With his two-year contract running down, the Amavubi defender will now find another club and is said to have interested several Rwandan sides and teams in Uganda and Ethiopia.

As Rukundo leaves the Kigali-based outfit, another Ugandan, winger Erisa Ssekisambu will be joining the club.

Rukundo began his career in Uganda with Maroons FC and KCCA FC before moving on to play in Rwanda with APR in 2017.

On August 20, 2019, he returned to Uganda, signing a contract with Police FC, from where he returned to Rwanda to join AS Kigali.

Born in Uganda to a Rwandan father and Ugandan mother, Rukundo was called up to represent the Rwanda national team for a pair of friendlies in June 2021.

He made his debut with Rwanda in a 2-0 friendly win over Central African Republic on June 3, 2021.
