Super Eagles head coach Austin Eguavoen has shared his thoughts on the performances of Victor Boniface and Kelechi Iheanacho in the 2-1 defeat to Rwanda.
The Super Eagles of Nigeria ended their AFCON 2025 qualification campaign on a sour note, losing 2-1 to Rwanda at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo.
Samuel Chukwueze's opening goal was not enough, as Rwanda fought back to secure a stunning victory.

Post-Match criticism on Boniface and Iheanacho
Forwards Victor Boniface and Kelechi Iheanacho bore the brunt of criticism for their underwhelming performances. Despite starting, both players failed to make an impact.

Boniface played 89 minutes, while Iheanacho was substituted at halftime. Coach Eguavoen defended Iheanacho, saying:
"Kelechi Iheanacho is an asset to the national team; he needs some encouragement. We spoke with him, and I told him he would start and play for 45 minutes."
Regarding Boniface, Eguavoen stated:
"I have spoken with Boniface several times; I have done enough. He is important to this team."
