Starlets maintained top position in East Africa ahead of Tanzania, Uganda and Rwanda.

Kenya women's senior team, the Harambee Starlets, has moved up one place in the latest rankings released by World Football governing body FIFA.

Despite not playing a game in the recent international windows, Godfrey 'Solo' Oduor's charges are now placed in position 148, up from 149 with 991 points.

In April, Starlets were scheduled to play a friendly against Albania in Tirana, but it was canceled, with logistical challenges being cited as the reason.

However, with ongoing support and opportunities, the Starlets have the potential to achieve even greater success and bring pride to their nation.

Starlets remain the best East African nation, while Tanzania are their closest regional competitor, holding the 152nd position, despite not experiencing any significant movement in the rankings.

Among the other East African nations listed in the FIFA rankings, Uganda sits at 161st place, Rwanda at 163, Burundi at 176, and South Sudan at 187.

The region has shown progress in women's football, with each country making its mark and contributing to the sport's growth in their respective communities.

Nigeria remains the best-placed African country after moving two places up to position 40 which is 14 places above African champions South Africa.

Cameroon are third, whereas Ghana and Ivory Coast are fourth and fifth, respectively.

The United States of America (USA) are the top-ranked team in the world whereas Germany and Sweden are second and third respectively.

The rankings are the last before the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup, which Australia and New Zealand will co-host in July.
