Ayunga, who has already said he would love to help Harambee Stars qualify for the FIFA World Cup, has now clocked 90 minutes under his belt over two appearances since returning from ACL injury.

Former Brighton & Hove Albion striker Jonah Ayunga has revealed his targets for the season following his return to action in St. Mirren’s last two Scottish Premier League games after recovering from a grueling knee injury.

Ayunga, who has already said he would love to help Harambee Stars qualify for the FIFA World Cup, has now clocked 90 minutes under his belt over two appearances since returning, and discussed his targets

“Right now, I am feeling fine, but it is never now that you feel it, it is the next day, so we will see,” Ayuna told PLZ Soccer.

“They are the ones who want to score, of course, but the boys are flying now so any goals I can score to help us get any wins is a massive win (for us).”

Ayunga played a crucial part in St.Mirren’s season before the injury, scoring important goals, but has admitted he was relieved to be given a new contract despite being injured.

“I was not expecting it at all. It was preseason when he pulled me in and was like ‘everyone is happy that you are getting another year’.

“That was a relief because coming back from an injury like this, you do not know what season you are going to have, if you are going to pick up little niggly injuries along the way.

“You do not want to get to the end of that season and have no contract, so that was a big deal.”

The Kenyan striker has revealed that he has been overwhelmed by the love he received from supporters during his injury-ridden spell.

“Last year was obviously different because I knew I played a part. This year I haven’t impacted the game so I need to make sure I keep the standards as high as they have been.”

“Fans have been with me the whole way, like, whenever I have been coming to games, they have been giving me their support so yeah, it’s nice, I have felt a bit of love.”
