In a thrilling encounter on Monday night at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium, dubbed the "Daktari wa mpira," Aucho played the full 90 minutes as Yanga secured a hard-fought 3-2 victory.

Khalid Aucho, the assistant captain of the Uganda Cranes, is making significant contributions to his Young Africans (Yanga) side in the Tanzania Premier League.

In a thrilling encounter on Monday night at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium, dubbed the "Daktari wa mpira," Aucho played the full 90 minutes as Yanga secured a hard-fought 3-2 victory.

Burkina Faso forward Stephan Aziz Ki was the match's star, netting a remarkable hat-trick.Aziz Ki opened the scoring eight minutes into the game, but Gibril Sillah levelled the score ten minutes later, ensuring both teams entered halftime at 1-1.

The visiting side took the lead for the first time in the 62nd minute when Prince Dube converted from the penalty spot after Yangas' captain, Bakari Mwenyemoto, fouled in the box. However, Aziz Ki responded six minutes later, levelling the score at 2-2.

Angel Miguel Gamondi's side had more to offer, with Khalid Aucho's pass finding Aziz KI, who completed his hat-trick without error in the 71st minute, putting Yanga ahead 3-2.

Khalid Aucho emphasized the importance of the three points: "It was a great game. "We wanted those three points, and we earned them. It gives us the motivation to keep pushing, especially with the derby approaching,"  he added, sharing with Pulse Sports.

This victory propelled Young Africans to the top of the Tanzania Premier League with 15 points, level with Simba. However, Simba holds the edge with a superior goal difference and still has a game in hand, remaining undefeated.

The next challenge for the Jangweni street-based team is a home fixture against Singida Fountain Gate, followed by the highly anticipated Kariakoo Derby on November 5th, with Simba hosting the first leg.

Young Africans have secured a place in the CAF Champions League group stages for the first time since 1998, while Simba SC is participating in the inaugural CAF African Football League tournament, featuring the continent's top eight teams.
