The deal that was unveiled on Wednesday in Kampala will see the Masindi-based sugar manufacturers sink in shs 50 million; shs 30 million in cash and the rest as goodies and activations.

High-flying StarTimes FUFA Big League side Kitara is shs.50 million richer after signing a six-month sponsorship contract with Kinyara Sugar Limited.

The deal that was unveiled on Wednesday in Kampala will see the Masindi-based sugar manufacturers sink in shs 50 million; shs 30 million in cash and the rest as goodies and activations.

“This sponsorship will run from February to September. Kinyara Sugar has supported several sporting activities and we’re proud to be part of the biggest club in the Kinyara region,” Caroline Amongin, the corporate communication revealed.

The club recently made a bold statement in the pursuit of promotion when they appointed flamboyant and highly-rated Sam Ssimbwa as their coach.

Push for promotion

The club’s president Deo Kasozi was confident that the new package will push the club to the line in the quest for promotion back to the top flight. Kitara is currently second on the log with 32 points, one behind National Enterprise Corporation.

“You’re aware that football in Uganda is having a challenge with financing so when we get someone on board to help us, it’s a very big opportunity. They’re covering the remaining part of the FUFA Big League and preparations for the premier league,” a confident Kasozi said.

The company is coming on board to assist us to improve the finances of the club and assist us in pushing this dream of qualifying for the Uganda Premier League.

Kitara has recorded arguably the biggest attendance of fans for home matches in the local football tiers over the last year and a half.

The club announced revenues in excess of shs 30 million in three home matches in December alone.
