That was Bbaale's fifth goal of the season in the league, while he has also managed a couple of goals in the Uganda Cup and in friendly games.

SC Villa head coach Jackson Magera has heaped praise on striker Charles Bbaale as the forward continues to flourish in front of goal.

The on-form Bbaale scored one of the two goals as Villa edged Onduparaka FC 2-1 in the Uganda Premier League at the Akii Bua Memorial Stadium in Lira on Friday.

“It has been a tough game just like we had anticipated because Onduparaka tends to give us a hard time,” Magera stated to Pulse Sports in the aftermath of the game.

“But the boys had the mental quality to fight until the end of the game, and we collected maximum points.”

“The likes of Bbaale have been brilliant not only in today's game but also in other games, and hopefully his great form will continue.”

“He is a player with a lot of potential but can also still improve his game further because he listens and he is willing to learn,” Magera added.

Hassan Musana gave the hosts the lead in time added on in the first half before Rashid Okocha equalized for the visitors in the 75th minute from a penalty.

Bbaale restored the Jogoo's lead in the 80th before the Caterpillars' Mallis Mandela was sent off in the 87th minute.

That was Bbaale's fifth goal of the season in the league, while he has also managed a couple of goals in the Uganda Cup and in friendly games.

Victory took the UPL record sponsors to fourth position with 28 points while the Arua-based side remained bottom of the 15-team log with seven points after both sides have played 16 games.

“Our position justifies the effort everyone at the club has put in from the administrators, technical team, and the players.”

“Though I think that this should be our starting point to finish the season on a high note, I know that the season is still long, but we shall take it one step at a time,” he noted.

Villa will return to action on March 5 to take on rivals Express FC at Wankulukuku while Onduparaka's next game is at Greenlight against Gaddafi FC a day before.
