Fewer than three major sponsors have said their goodbyes to the nation’s football body.
The Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, is facing an impending crisis with its partners after it emerged that some of them have threatened to walk away.
Some of the major partners have indicated an interest in putting an end to their relationship with the football governing body due to what has been described as an “unprofessional attitude.”
According to a report from Guardian Nigeria, three major sponsors, Air Peace, Coca Cola and Revolution Plus have led the way by walking away.
Firm regrets its relationship with NFF
One of NFF’s sponsors spoke on their relationship with the football body in the country.
The marketing communications rep lamented with regret what his company had gone through at the hands of NFF.

“We are not a charity organisation, which doles out money without getting anything in return,” he noted per Guardian.
“We entered into the partnership with NFF because we thought a big brand like Nigerian football would present great marketing opportunities for us. But that is not the case.”
Nigeria was absent at the recently concluded 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar after the Super Eagles failed to pick one of five tickets for the football fiesta.

According to the marketing rep, his company was hoping to take advantage of the global showpiece to make amends but it ended in regrets as the Eagles failed to make it.
“We kept quiet because we thought the Qatar 2022 World Cup would give us the chance to make up for whatever we lost marketing our brand during the qualifiers. But we didn’t even qualify for the World Cup.”
NFF confirms sponsors are leaving
Meanwhile, the NFF through its media director, Ademola Olajire, confirmed that some sponsors have indeed walked away.
However, he was unable to provide further details to explain why these sponsors severed their ties but stated that their contracts had expired.

“I am aware that Coca-Cola, Air Peace and Revolution Plus are out,” he added. “Their contracts ran out and they didn’t take the option of renewal.”
