"The coach has given me the captaincy but nothing is going to change, I'm still going to push, try to lead by example on the pitch."

Motherwell FC defender Bevis Mugabi was appointed Uganda Cranes captain for the forthcoming international friendlies against Comoros and Ghana.

The ties are slated for March 22 and 26 in Marrakech, Morocco and will serve as precursors for the June World Cup qualifiers.

Mugabi has underlined that the armband will not come with any pressures and that he'll keep giving his usual best.

"No pressure at all, I'm going to still be the same Bevis as before," he said in an interview with FUFA ahead of the Comoros tie.

"The coach has given me the captaincy but nothing is going to change, I'm still going to push, try to lead by example on the pitch."

The team has new faces, including Hearts of Midlothian's Toby Sibbick, Athlone's Carl James Mujaguzi and Charlton Athletic player Nathan Asiimwe.

"For sure, the team has a lot of new faces, so its just about creating that bond together and listen to the coach about what he wants from us," Mugabi said.

Mugabi has played a whooping 34 games this season for Motherwell this season and he will be keen to rub his valuable experience and expertise to the team.
