The Red Devils are pondering on whether to let the forward leave on loan or use him as makeweight for their transfer target.

Serie A side Atalanta are keen to make a move for Manchester United's forward Mason Greenwood.

However, United are understood to be exploring whether they can use Greenwood in a deal for Rasmus Hojlund. Since the 21-year-old was charged with attempted rape, engaging in controlling and coercive behaviour and assault in January 2022, he has yet to kick a ball for United.

And in the transfer window, he has to make a critical decision on where he wants to be in the future. Although the Crown Prosecution dropped charges against Greenwood, he is still under investigation since United opened its own probe, and thereafter, the club will decide whether to keep the forward or not.

Public opinion is divided on the youngster, as some would like to see the back of the forward, but others feel he should be given a fair chance. United are pondering whether to send him on a loan deal with AS Roma also understood to be keen on getting him.

Atalanta have also expressed interest in the striker and have reportedly held talks with United for a possible loan deal. However, United are contemplating getting a deal for Hojlund using Greenwood.

With United's interest in the Danish forward and Atalanta's keen interest in Greenwood, the deals could materialise in the end. The Red Devils are keen to sign a striker, with their key targets, Harry Kane and Victor Osimhen, looking unlikely to come to Old Trafford.
