Super Eagles-ignored Akor Adams and Montpellier fail to press Brest

Akor Adams played his 18th match of the season for Montpellier against Brest in the Ligue 1.

Nigerian striker Akor Adams failed to add to his goal tally in the Ligue 1 after firing blanks for Montpellier again in Ligue 1. 

Adams extended his goal drought across all competitions to 10 matches following a 2-0 defeat on the road at Brest. 

Adams’ Montpellier fail

The 23-year-old started his 18th straight match for the former Ligue 1 champions as they looked to extend their unbeaten streak.

For 67 minutes the Super Eagles-eligible forward was on the pitch but failed to impress before he was subbed off with 23 his side 1-0 down.

Adams, who started the season in blistering style, failed to register a single attempt during over an hour on the pitch while completing just 50% of his passes. 

The striker has now gone ten matches without a goal for Montpellier, with his last strike for the club a double against Toulouse in a 3-0 win back on December 17, 2023.

For his club, Montpellier, the defeat was the first in five matches with the hosts, Brest, now unbeaten in eight matches, including winning their last five matches. 

Nigeria’s Akor, who was ditched for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON, remains rooted in seven goals this season for Montpellier in his debut campaign having arrived the club last summer.
