UFL University Football League returns with two new entrants

Kampala International University is returning to the league after one season away, while ISBAT University is making its debut in the competition.

The Pepsi University Football League is back for its eleventh season, with 24 universities competing for the top prize, including two new teams.

The President of the Association of Uganda University Sports, Peninah Kabenge, highlighted that the new season will be more exciting, especially with the addition of new universities.

“The University Football League is back again, and I can assure you that this is going to be another exciting season,” Kabenge said.

“We welcome back KIU and the new entrants in ISBAT University, and I urge all the fans across the country to welcome the league and watch games in numbers from their respective regions.”

Asked about how they will contain the discipline cases, especially inaugural winners Makerere University, who have been involved in several incidents, Kabenge mentioned a contingency plan which couldn't be revealed yet but was in place.

“We have engaged all the participating teams and emphasized discipline. We have also devised a contingency plan which we cannot reveal for now, but we can assure you we shall have a flawless season.”

The draw sees Kabale University pooled alongside Uganda Martyrs, Bugema, and the University of Kisubi in Group A, while Group B will see the Islamic University in

Uganda, Makerere University Business School, Victoria University, and YMCA tussle it out.

Group C will see Muni University face off with Kyambogo, Makerere, and Ndejje Universities, while Group D will feature Kumi, Busitema, KIU, and UCU Universities.

Defending champions St. Lawrence University will face Gulu, International University of East Africa, and Nkumba in Group E, while Group F will feature Mbarara

University, Kampala University, Busitema University, and new entrants, ISBAT University.

The Pepsi University League is scheduled to kick off on March 7th, with the fixtures to be released soon.
