"I had a studio in the house. My dad didn't know," Davido confessed, sending shockwaves through the conversation. Tchouaméni, taken aback, queried, "Really your own house?"

"Yes, I had a studio in the house. Not too loud for him," Davido affirmed. "That's crazy, that's not possible," the Real Madrid star interjected, still grappling with the revelation.

"That's not too much, he stays upstairs," Davido countered. "Like you sure it's a house, it means you had a big mansion," Tchouaméni probed, delving deeper into Davido's past.

"That was a big house, like 20-something rooms. Like it was big, big men," Davido explained, painting a vivid picture of his formative years. "So I'm on like this floor, he's on like the top floor and he goes straight to his room."

From Alabama to Afrobeat: Davido's Unconventional Path

Davido continued, expressing his determination to be a musician. "Once he comes back from work, he's going in the elevator and he's going straight to his room. So he never heard the studio."

The clandestine musical journey took an unexpected turn when Davido ventured to the United States for college. "But when I moved to Tennessee, Collegedale Tennessee, that's the first place I went to, but it was like a Christian university," Davido revealed.

"I was like the only African in like the whole place, so I couldn't stay there because I was just not feeling it. So he moved me to Alabama two hours away."

However, Alabama harbored a hidden gem that ignited Davido's passion for music. "But then I had a lot of people that, you know, did music there," Davido explained.

"So when I first got to the school, you know, he dropped me off, went to the school in the dorm, like where the students stay upstairs in my room, I'm always hearing like music upstairs in my room."

Davido's fateful encounter with a fellow student's makeshift studio became a pivotal moment in his musical odyssey. "I went upstairs one day and I knocked on the door.

“I'm like, what's going on here? I'm always hearing music, like, is it a party or whatever? And the dude opened the door, he had a mini studio in the school just for him."

Davido's Self-Taught Sensation

Davido seized the opportunity to hone his craft. "So I was like, yo, like, teach me how to, how much is for all, all of this," he recalled.

"He says 1000, I'm like, sh what's up? I gave him, I took everything and I was like, just teach me how to record myself, I'll find my way. So that's really, and this time I'm like 15 or 16."

Davido's determination knew no bounds as he delved into the realm of music production. "I started producing. I went on YouTube, I taught myself, I was watching YouTube every day, everything is on YouTube," he revealed.

"So I was watching YouTube every day and then I mastered recording myself, you know what I'm saying?"

"This is like this period, I'm in school, but I'm like, not in school, but my dad doesn't really know," he confessed. "And then back home, the artists are blowing up. So I'm like, man, I have to go back home. I don't have time."

In a bold move, Davido embarked on a journey back to Nigeria, propelled by his unwavering passion for music. "I'm telling my dad, I have to go back, I have to go back," he recounted. "And then one day I just went back and I just, it was a long thing.

But I just decided to leave school and I moved back to Nigeria without my parents knowing I just moved back. I moved back and figured it out."
