Amidst administrative uncertainties, the She Cranes were not in a position to "mobilize on very short notice" in the wake of the restructuring at the Uganda Netball Federation.
As a result, the Uganda national netball team, the She Cranes, pulled out from the already-started 2023 African Netball Championship that got underway on Sunday in Botswana.
The committee reasoned that the She Cranes were not in a position to "mobilize on very short notice" in the wake of the restructuring at the Federation, prompting the Speaker to demand a report on the state of affairs.

"Considering the fact that netball is one of our most successful sporting disciplines and that it is played by women, you need to see what to do for our girls,” Among said in the Tuesday plenary.

"The issue of She Cranes is beyond financial matters; it is a corporate governance issue," a concerned Among added.
"The Minister for Sports needs to follow up the cancellation of the certificate of the Federation and report to the House. We appropriated the money, and they have it,” she summed.

NETBALL She Cranes to play at Wembley in England's Netball Nations Cup
The She Cranes have been invited by England, along with powerhouses Australia and New Zealand, for the Vitality Netball Nations Cup.
The ugly affairs all started when the elected UNF president, Sarah Babirye Kityo, clashed with NCS general secretary Patrick Ogwel over mistrust and accountability issues.
Kityo accused Ogwel of forcing the federation to account for funds never provided for the team, while Ogwel indicted the former for mishandling funds.

Meanwhile, the She Cranes managed a fifth-place finish in the world and emerged as the best African team at the 2023 Netball World Cup held in South Africa.
