Ademola Lookman named Europa League Player of the Week
Nigerian winger Ademola Lookman has been named the Europa League Player of the Week after his starring role in Atalanta's semi-final triumph over Marseille.
The 26-year-old was in sensational form over the two legs, scoring one goal and providing another assist as Atalanta secured a historic 4-1 aggregate victory to reach their first-ever European final.
Lookman rules Europa League
Lookman opened the scoring in the second leg in Bergamo, finishing off a slick team move by firing home from the edge of the box.
The Super Eagles star at the AFCON 2023 then teed up Matteo Ruggeri to make it 2-0 in the second half as Atalanta took control of proceedings.
His performance on the night was enough to see off stiff competition from Roma goalkeeper Mile Svilar, who made 12 saves against Bayer Leverkusen, to claim the prestigious Player of the Week accolade.
It caps an incredible campaign for Lookman in Italy, with the skilful wideman contributing 20 goals and assists in all competitions this season for the Serie A club.

Gian Piero Gasperini's side and Lookman will now take on fellow Nigerians Victor Boniface and Nathan Tella of Bayer Leverkusen in the Europa League final in Dublin on May 22nd.
And on this form, Lookman will surely be one of Atalanta's biggest threats as they bid to get their hands on the trophy for the first time in their history against the German outfit.
