Chelsea’s quest to replace departed manager Graham Potter has received another setback after the club was forced to rule out former Spain and Barcelona manager Luis Enrique as they were unable to come to an agreement for the 2015 UEFA Champions League winner.
Chelsea end negotiations with Luis Enrique
The Blues have already seen a major contender for the job, Julian Nagelsmann, drop out of the race to become the next Chelsea boss and have also had Burnley manager Vincent Kompany distance himself from the job, but they still have hopes of finding a replacement for Potter before the season runs out.

Chelsea’s current campaign effectively came to an end after the Blues were eliminated by Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League quarterfinal, with the team stuck in mid-table with no hope of an end-of-the-season trophy or a fight for European places ahead of the 2023/24 season.
Mauricio Pochettino odds on to become next Chelsea boss
Chelsea’s team is currently being put through their paces by former midfielder Frank Lampard, who holds the position of manager on an interim basis as the search for a permanent manager continues.
Chelsea are believed to be holding advanced negotiations with former Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino to take charge of the team from next season, with the Blues hoping that he can take advantage of the massive investment that owner Todd Boehly has put into the club since taking over from Roman Abrahamovic.
The Argentine manager is now the favourite to win the race to become Chelsea’s new boss and his case will be greatly helped by other managers dropping out of contention and denying speculation linking them with the Blues.
Meanwhile, Chelsea also lost first-team coach Anthony Barry to Bayern Munich
Barry has reunited with his former boss, Thomas Tuchel and will serve as his new assistant coach at the Allianz Arena.
The 36-year-old, who joins with immediate effect per the club website, completes the coaching crew at Bayern.
