CS Murkomen Makes Stadium Upgrade Promise

"I visited the venue (IAAF) Stadium in Bomet and saw the conditions under which the team has been playing in the National Super League (NSL), and I was just humbled to see they made it to the Premier League despite the challenging environment,” said Murkomen.

“It just shows how much more the team can achieve with the right support, which we are ready to offer. I want to challenge the Board, Madam Rose, that we can fight for at least top five in the first season," added the CS at the event, which raised over Ksh30 million towards the team.

APS Bomet board chairman Bishop Dr Fred Akama echoed the club patron’s sentiments, taking on the challenge of performing well.

"We have seen what good management can do in football. Not so many clubs in our country enjoy good management as required. We want to ensure good management for the team, and our target is to win the Premier League title within three years," said Akama.

Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Gilbert Masengeli issued a rallying call to the team to live up to the billing in the Premier League and follow in the footsteps of teams like Sofapaka who won the top flight in their debut season.

"When a cat wants to become a lion, it must stop the habit of feeding on rats. You know what we need to do as a team, on our march towards the Premier League title. This calls for improvement in every area, especially financial prudence," said Masengeli.

APS Bomet have witnessed a meteoric rise since the club was founded in 2014 with the aim of fostering a great relationship between the police and the public in Bomet and have now joined Police FC and Ulinzi Stars as the teams from the disciplined forces in the Premier League.

Coached by Miachael Nam, APS Bomet will begin their Premier League campaign against last season’s high fliers Shabana FC on September 21.
