Arsenal seals 5th place UCL spot of Premier League teams following win against Madrid

Mikel Arteta's side faced a daunting task, having needed to get past the 15-time UCL winner for a chance in the semi-final of the competition.

The Gunners were remarkable at the Emirates as they put three goals past Real Madrid in the first leg of the quarterfinal.

Two free-kick goals from Declan Rice and one from Mikel Merino were enough for the Gunners to get past the Spanish giants at the Emirates.

It was an unforgettable night for Arteta and his men against Real Madrid, with their 3-0 win sealing a fifth spot for Premier League teams in the UCL.

Before the game, the Premier League had only four spots for next season's Champions League, but Arsenal's win has added an extra spot for the EPL team.

The Gunners hold a 3-0 advantage going into the second leg of the tie next Wednesday at Santiago Bernabéu.
