Barcelona legend Andres Iniesta was honoured by the club once again during his testimonial in his final match for Japanese side Vissel Kobe.
Iniesta receives touching send-off from Barcelona and Vissel Kobe
The legendary midfielder spent 16 years with the Barcelona first team before joining Vissel Kobe in 2018, winning numerous awards with the Blaugrana, including nine LaLiga titles, and three UEFA Champions League titles.
After announcing that he would be retiring from football, he participated in a friendly between the only two sides that he played for during his career.
Before the match, during pleasantries between both sides, Iniesta found time for one of Barcelona’s La Masia graduates and one of the most liked players at the club, Gavi, exchanging banter with the youngster and requesting his jersey.
Iniesta’s kids huge fans of Gavi
Iniesta was insistent on getting Gavi’s jersey as he informed the 18-year-old midfielder that his children are huge fans of his.
Iniesta is blessed with two sons and two daughters, who, along with most of Spain’s adolescent population, are enamoured with the baby-faced Barcelona star.
Gavi has been compared to Iniesta by some Barcelona fans with similarities ranging from their career paths to their style of play and the youngster would have been overjoyed to have received such praise from one of his idols.
