Barcelona star changes answer on who deserves Ballon d'Or
Barcelona defender Jules Kounde recently amended his response on the Ballon d'Or after initially picking his Blaugrana teammate, Lamine Yamal, for the award.
Yamal is believed to be in direct competition with Koundé’s France international teammate, Ousmane Dembélé, for the award.
The former Sevilla defender is currently in the French camp and was asked the Ballon d'Or question and had a different answer than he had initially given.
What Kounde said
While he had tipped Yamal for the award during a previous interview, he was more diplomatic this time around, stating that both players deserved to win, providing reasons.
"I've already answered; I'll do it again. Both deserve it,” he said, per Goal. “They had an extraordinary season, with trophies to boot. Being teammates with both, it's difficult.
“I'm not the one voting, and there are arguments for both. I'm very happy to be with Lamine, to see how he's carrying us. Ousmane has reached a kind of fullness; he's playing his best football with the statistics. May the best man win."
Meanwhile, Lamine Yamal disagreed with Hansi Flick’s assessment of their performance against Rayo Vallecano, providing his own perspective on why they have struggled.
