Barcelona star Kounde rubbishes exit rumours

Barcelona defender Jules Kounde has recently poured cold water on the rumours that he is looking to leave the LaLiga champions, saying the thought had never crossed his mind. 

Kounde enjoyed a superb first season with Barcelona, winning the LaLiga title as a mainstay in the Blaugrana defence and playing 27 times in the 2022/23 league campaign. 

Despite the successful seasons, rumours started circulating that Kounde was unhappy with his sole season at Barcelona because he was often played outside his preferred position. 

The French defender has publicly denied these rumours, stating categorically that he has no intention of leaving the Catalan giants, and wants to squash the rumours about his possible transfer specifically. 

Kounde took to Twitter to denounce the rumours surrounding his time at Barcelona and tweeted a clear message that went against the news that had been circulating about him. 

The France international tweeted “To be 100% clear, I’ve never asked to leave Barcelona and I’m not gonna leave the club. 

“I’m not going anywhere.”

Kounde has been the subject of transfer speculation since the rumours of his unhappiness at Barcelona came to light with Chelsea apparently eager to sign the Frenchman after missing out on him in the summer of 2023. 

They will have to keep lusting after Kounde in vain however, with the defender now  ctaegorically stating that he will not be leaving the club anytime soon.
