Bayern Munich forward Thomas Muller has rubbished the criticisms of the Club World Cup surrounding the weather, insisting that if he, at his advanced age, could cope with it, other footballers should be able to.

The 35-year-old will leave the Bavarian club after the competition; however, he, like his teammate Harry Kane, appears to be having fun at the Club World Cup, and he spoke in its defence.

The competition in the United States has had a number of criticisms levied against it. One of the biggest criticisms is the weather in the states, as some games are played in intense heat on summer afternoons, and some players and managers have complained.

For Muller, this is not an excuse, saying that a professional should be able to cope under such conditions if they were in top physical fitness.

“We are professionals and we have to be in shape,” he told reporters. “If an almost 36-year-old, you know, a guy like me, can run 90 minutes, then everybody should do it. So, no excuses.”

The German football legend then provided some updates on his future, admitting that a move to the MLS is on the cards for him this summer.

“Yeah, there is a chance (of joining an NLS side), but I have to figure it out and at the moment I am totally focused on playing this tournament.

“Some talks maybe in the background, but the focus is on the tournament now. I have no hurry, I have no stress to take my decisions, and then we will see, but I don't know now.”
