Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino is excited about the addition of Christopher Nkunku, saying the France international could become important for them.
Nkunku joined Chelsea in the summer from Leipzig but suffered an injury after a successful preseason. He is now being eased back after recovering, and in only his first Premier League appearance, he scored to pull one back for Chelsea in a 2-1 defeat to Wolves at Molineux.
What Pochettino said
“I’m very pleased to see Nkunku score; it shows how important he can be for us,” Pochettino said excitedly after the defeat to Wolves, per the BBC.
“We cannot put too much pressure on him but a quality player who can score goals.
“We are very confident in him to get to his best and be a key player for us.”
In an interview on Instagram Live through Daily Star, Essien revealed that he came close to going with the Reds and also visited Anfield before Chelsea came calling two years later.
