Chukuweze’s late header not enough to rescue 10-man Milan against Bashiru’s Lazio
The hosts were looking to bounce back from back-to-back defeats in their previous games against Torino and Bologna in the Serie A.
However, they failed to bounce back and suffered a 2-1 loss against Lazio on the night and remained in ninth place in the Serie A table.
As it happened
Samuel Chukuweze failed to make the starting lineup for AC Milan and was left on the bench, while Dele Bashiru missed out for Lazio due to an injury.
Lazio took charge of the game and scored the first goal in the 28th minute of the first half from a Mattia Zaccagni strike, taking the lead to halftime.
In the second half, AC Milan were reduced to 10-men after a last-man foul was made by Strahinja Pavlovic.
Later on, Super Eagles star Chukuweze was brought in to replace Christian Pulisic, and his presence changed the narrative of the game.
The winger rescued AC Milan in the 84th minute with the equaliser after planting a thunderous header into the back of the net from Rafael Leao’s cross.
However, they failed to hold on to the draw and conceded a late goal from a Pedro penalty kick and ended up losing the game at full time.
