Former Arsenal star Emmanuel Petit has claimed Cristiano Ronaldo will fail in his quest to score 1000 career goals.
Ronaldo, 39, has scored an impressive 907 professional goals. and has made no secret of his desire to hit 1000.
However, Petit believes there is no chance of him hitting that milestone.
Petit says Ronaldo will not hit 1000 goals
"Cristiano Ronaldo won't reach 1000 goals, even if he plays in Saudi Arabia until 42 years old," Petit told Jeffbet (via GOAL).
"It will be extremely hard to average 30-40 goals a season at that age, and he will only decline with age. I don't expect him to get near that figure, honestly."
Meanwhile, Ronaldo's penalty miss on Monday night proved costly, as Al Nassr crashed out of the King's Cup.
The Portugal captain is still waiting for his first major trophy with the Saudi club, and it's looking increasingly unlikely this season.
If there's one thing Ronaldo thrives on, it is proving people wrong. Expect CR7 to take Petit's words as a personal affront and push for 1000 goals.
