The highly-rated England international has been courted by Arsenal in the last few weeks. The Gunners have even had separate bids rejected for Rice.

Manchester City are now officially in the race after earlier reports suggested they had an interest in signing the Hammer's captain.

According to the Athletic's David Ornstein, the Manchester-based club have sent an offer worth €90 million to the Hammers for the services of their defensive midfielder. A fee similar to Arsenal's rejected second bid.

However, unlike the Gunners, who wanted to pay €75 million, and another €15 million in add-ons, Manchester City's offer is said to be €80 million guaranteed and €10 million in add-ons.

It remains to be seen if West Ham accept City's offer, as they have been reported to want over €100 million to let the player go despite only having one year remaining on his contract, although there is an option to extend for one more season.

City's bid could start a bidding war for the services of Rice, as Arsenal have him as their prime target for the summer transfer window.
