Dortmund scrape past Leipzig to go top

Marco Reus opened the scoring for Borussia Dortmund from the penalty spot, while former Liverpool man Emre Can was also on the scoresheet. 

Emil Forsberg cut the gap for Leipzig but Dortmund held on for the victory.

The game began with both sides putting an emphasis on attacking and taking risks in possession. 

The hosts thought they had taken the lead after 15 minutes when Julian Brandt fired home a brilliant strike past Leipzig keeper Janis Blaswich. However, the goal was ruled out for a handball from Brandt.

Dortmund didn't have to wait long to open the scoring, as Marco Reus converted from the penalty spot after being fouled by Blaswich just six minutes later.

Halstenberg spurned a great chance to equalize in the 36th minute. Emil Forsberg crossed to him at the back post, but he could only hit his shot over.

Five minutes from halftime Dortmund doubled their lead after Emre Can's long-range effort found its way through the Leipzig defenders

RB Leipzig came out for the second half on the front foot and after 74 minutes they pulled one back. 

David Raum fired in a vicious cross and Forsberg was on hand to slide in at the back post and send it into the back of the net.
