Ex-Manchester United and Sunderland star linked with Championship club
A former Manchester United star John O’Shea has been linked with a managerial role in the Championship.
The former Red Devil has been linked with a move to Reading, who have struggled all season and sit just above the relegation zone in the English second tier.
Reading, who have a game in hand, currently find themselves in the red zone as they sit 22nd on the table and in danger of dropping to League One.
O'Shea is the man for Reading
According to British outfit, Manchester World, the club appears to have turned to their former player, O’Shea, for redemption.
The former United defender featured nine times for the Blue Birds towards the twilight of his career and is seen as the favourite to land the job following the sacking of Paul Ince, another former Red.
The 42-year-old made over 250 appearances at United and was a favourite given his versatility during his 12-year stint at Old Trafford.
O’Shea, who is currently the assistant manager at the Republic of Ireland national men’s team, has been at Reading where he coached the team for two years before his departure in 2021.
He has also been the manager of Ireland’s under-21s and also at Stoke City before his current role with the Ireland national team.
Reading’s form
The Blue Birds are in bad shape and look in real danger of relegation as they need a major miracle to survive the drop.
Reading have failed to win any of their last nine matches, with five defeats and four draws.
