‘Fake news’ - Mbappe’s rape allegation dismissed following lack of evidence
A few weeks ago, Mbappe was accused of rape after visiting Sweden in October during the international break.
It was reported that Mbappe hosted an "exclusive private party" at the nightclub V and the restaurant Chez Jolie.
After the party, a lady filed a formal complaint claiming the football star had sexually assaulted her in his hotel room in Stockholm during a night out.
Mbappe free of rape charges
On Thursday, a prosecutor announced that the inquiry was halted due to insufficient evidence.
According to the Sun, the prosecutor Marina Chirakova said Mbappe was not even "notified of suspicion of a crime."
Meanwhile, Mbappe denied the rape allegations and called it fake news. He also claimed he was never contacted by the Swedish police.
In a post on X soon after the report, Mbappe said, "FAKE NEWS !!!! It's becoming so predictable, just before the hearing as if by chance.
"I was surprised and I still am surprised, by the way. These are things that come into your life like that, you can't see them coming.
"It's just incomprehension. I don't think it weighed on me in the sense that I have never considered myself involved."
Meanwhile, Mbappe has started his new journey at Real Madrid gradually and has racked up nine goals in Laliga.
