Fashion icon Michelle Alozie misses battle of the sisters against Uchenna Kanu
It was a battle of the Super Falcons in the NWSL as Michelle Alozie's Houston Dash played out a hard-fought 0-0 stalemate against Uchenna Kanu's Racing Louisville.
Kanu was the only Nigerian to feature on the night, with Alozie curiously absent from the Dash matchday squad at the Shell Energy Stadium, Houston.
Alozie vs Kanu in NSWL
The prolific Louisville forward, who had opened her account for the season by netting in the previous game, found goalscoring chances harder to come by on this occasion.
Over her 73 minutes on the pitch, Kanu managed to create just one chance for her teammates, delivering a solitary key pass to go along with two interceptions and three tackles in an industrious display.
While she will have been disappointed not to add to her goal tally, the 25-year-old's defensive work rate could not be faulted as the Racing battled to a share of the spoils.
At the other end, Alozie's absence remained a mystery, with the pacy defender cum winger surely a player Houston would have looked to unleash against the resolute Louisville rearguard.
In the end, a goalless stalemate was a fair result as the two NWSL outfits cancelled each other out over the 90 minutes in Texas.
The Nigerian stars will be hoping for more potent displays when their respective sides return to action in the coming weeks. Alozie’s Dash face Asisat Oshoala’s Bay FC while Kanu and Racing have a date with Portland Thorns.
