Chidozie Awaziem is reportedly set for a return to FC Nantes, where he hopes to finally settle and make a lasting impact after years of bouncing across clubs and countries.

His arrival is expected to mark a new chapter for the French side, especially following the emotional departure of fellow Nigerian international Moses Simon.

Awaziem returns to Nantes hoping to restart his career

According to L’Équipe, 28-year-old Nigerian defender Chidozie Awaziem will rejoin Nantes on a three-year deal, seven years after his initial loan stint at the club.

A product of the FC Porto academy, Awaziem never quite established himself in Portugal, making only 15 appearances for the Dragons before embarking on a journeyman career.

His early promise at Nantes during the 2017–18 season, where he made 23 appearances, left a good impression, and now the Ligue 1 outfit is betting on him once more. Since then, Awaziem has had spells in Turkey, Spain, Croatia, the United States, and back in Portugal, but never found stability.

With this move, both the player and club are hoping to finally find the consistency that has eluded him, and Nantes are looking to reinforce their backline with Awaziem’s experience and versatility.

Simon bids farewell after iconic Nantes spell

As one Super Eagles star arrives, another departs. Moses Simon recently officially confirmed his exit from FC Nantes after six influential seasons, ahead of a €7 million move to newly promoted Ligue 1 side Paris FC.

The winger, 29, shared a heartfelt message on social media, thanking fans and club staff while reminiscing over the “engraved memories” he made in yellow and green.

Simon joined Nantes in 2019 and leaves with a remarkable record: 201 appearances, 37 goals, and 42 assists.

His departure leaves a big void not just on the wing, but also in terms of leadership and experience. With Simon’s legacy now in the past, the spotlight turns to Awaziem, once forgotten, now with a golden opportunity to write his own story at the Stade de la Beaujoire.
