Francis Ngannou and Vinicius Jr: MMA star welcomes Brazil forward to embrace Cameroon heritage
Vinicius Jr., the star of Real Madrid and the Brazilian national team, was recognized prior to the recent Brazil vs. Uruguay game at the Arena Fonte Nova in Salvador during the international break.
As part of the Golden Roots promotion, the athlete was given a certificate from the Tikar tribe of Cameroon attesting to his African ancestry.
Vinicius's ancestry was discovered by DNA testing, which led to the recognition.
On Black Consciousness Day, this project seeks to honor Brazil's Afro-descendant past and emphasize its influence on sports and culture.
The player was clearly moved and proud to have found this link to Cameroon.
Vinicius is descended from the Tikar tribe, which is well-known for its extensive history and for having settled in the Cameroonian grasslands of Bamenda.

Superstar Mixed Martial Artist Francis Ngannou has now welcomed Vinicius Jr to Cameroon.
Ngannou the reigning PFL heavyweight champion is from Cameroon and wants the Brazil star to embrace his roots.
He posted a series of photos with a message that said, "I have my VINÍCIUS JR. jerseys for the Cameroon national team ready.
"Brother @vinijr, we're impatiently waiting for you at home. 🇨🇲
"@fifaworldcup, here we come! 🏆🇨🇲 #LECONTINENT."
Vinicius is yet to respond to the invite by Ngannou on social media.
