Manchester United striker Joshua Zirkzee has hit out at fans for leaving Old Trafford early before their historic comeback victory.

The Red Devils trailed French giants Olympic Lyon 4-2 with just eight minutes left in the extra time of the Europa League clash on Thursday.

United were 2-0 up at halftime courtesy of goals from Manuel Ugarte and Diogo Dalot but found themselves in the back foot in the the second half as Lyon levelled matters, forcing the tie to head into extra time.

What happened in extra time

In an unexpected turn of events at Old Trafford, Lyon midfielder Correntin Tolisso was red carded in the dying minutes of the second half but United were 4-2 down with 110 minutes played.

Bruno Fernandes, Harry Maguire and Kobbie Mainoo scored in a span of six minutes to turn the result 5-4 in favour of United in one of the historic comebacks ever.

The victory has prompted the Dutch forward to call out united fans for their percieved disloyalty as reported by TalkSPORT: “To all the fans who left when we were down, have a listen to this.”

Zirkzee watched the comeback from the technical area. He is out for the rest of the season after suffering an hamstring injury in the 4-1 defeat against Newcastle last weekend.

Semifinals Opponent revealed

United face Spanish side Athletic Bilbao in the first leg of the semifinals on May 1 away and the Europa League is the only competition where United are likely to win a trophy this season.

The Red Devils are 13th in the English Premier League standings with 38 points and faces Wolves, Bournemouth, Brentford, West Ham, Chelsea and Aston Villa in their remaining EPL fixtures.
