He could be sidelined for weeks - Super Eagles star suspected to have tear in the adductor muscle
Eric Chelle, the Super Eagles' manager, called up Ogbu for the first time for two World Cup qualifying matches against Rwanda and Zimbabwe but did not play him.
Following his return from the international break, the 25-year-old was left out of Slavia's travelling squad for the game against FK Dukla Prague on Saturday.
It was feared that the Nigerian had a tear in the adductor muscle in the groin, which could rule him out for weeks.
Update on Ogbu’s injury
Manager Jindrich Trpisovsky revealed to reporters that Ogbu will undergo an MRI scan to assess the severity of the injury he sustained during the match against Dukla Prague, where Trpisovsky's side dropped points.
According to Slavia's official webpage, the coach said, "I don't have a detailed report yet; he's is going to have an MRI.
"The first predictions are a tear in the adductor muscle in the groin. He was injured like this once and came back in half the time. We'll see after the examination."
Jaroslav Tvrdik, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Slavia Prague, has also confirmed that Ogbu will be out of action for a while due to injury.
Slavia has recorded sixteen clean sheets this season, due in part to Ogbu's crucial role in their defence.
