Super Eagles invitee shares quality he brings to the Nigerian national team

Ogbu was called up to the Nigerian national team for the first time by new head coach Eric following an impressive season with Salvia Prague.

The defender played for the Flying Eagles at the 2019 FIFA U20 World Cup in Poland before earning his first call-up six years later.

Playing primarily as a defender, he has two goals in twenty league games and has appeared in both Champions League qualifiers and Europa League matches.

Ogbu expressed his views on training under Eric Chelle and the quality he brings during an interview with Nigerian reporters in Kigali.

According to Allnigeriasoccer, he said, "He is a tough gaffer, he pushes us to be good players and that's what I love.”

Speaking about his qualities, he replied, "My three best qualities? I am strong, intelligent, and capable of playing good football."

Ogbu's main goal is to help the Super Eagles recover; he stressed how crucial it is to capitalize on every chance they get.

"It feels great. I am happy to be part of the national team. For me, it's a great thing. Everybody wants to play for his country, I  am really happy to be part of this team.

"The moment they called me to the national team, you know it's not a place for holiday, so we are coming here to fight for Nigerians and we are here to play good football.

"When you have the opportunity and the time to play, you have to do what is right for the country and for yourself as well."

The team's results during their first four matches have been disappointing, and Nigeria's start to the qualifiers has been anything but convincing.

They will need to win their remaining games in the group phase to secure a ticket to the 2026 World Cup.
