However, that has not been the case since he was recently selected to represent the Super Eagles squad.

He is expected to make his senior debut in the upcoming 2026 World Cup qualifying matches against Rwanda and Zimbabwe.

Ogbu not eligible for Norway

According to Allnigeriasoccer, it was reported that the Norwegian Federation reached out to Igho about representing the Scandinavian nation during his last season at Lillestrom in 2022, which is entirely false.

The former Nigeria U20 international had lived in Norway for only four years and was three years short of the seven-year residency requirement for naturalisation

As things stand, Ogbu doesn't even hold a Norwegian passport, effectively ending speculation about representing Norway.

Igoh Ogbu is the latest Super Eagles defender.

Ogbu cannot represent Norway or any other country internationally due to his participation in competitive games for Nigeria's U17 and U20 teams.

The defender became provisionally captied to Nigeria, his country of birth, before he was a Norwegian citizen. This makes him ineligible to play for Norway.

The 25-year-old faces stiff competition for a starting spot on the Super Eagles from Fulham's Calvin Bassey and William Troost-Ekong, who excelled in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
