'He is a phenomenon' — PSG captain Marquinhos picks Ballon d'Or winner

PSG captain and Brazil defender Marquinhos believes there can only be one winner of the 2025 Ballon d'Or.

Marquinhos, who has led his side to the brink of the Ligue 1 trophy and a place in the Champions League quarterfinals, believes compatriot Raphinha deserves the award.

Raphinha has had a wonderful season, scoring 26 goals and contributing 15 assists to help Barcelona's cause, and Marquinhos believes his teammate must be recognised.

Speaking ahead of Brazil's World Cup qualifier against Argentina, Marquinhos said;

"Raphinha is a phenomenon. Now everyone sees his potential and everything he can do, something that we already saw internally in the national team.

“We already saw how important he is, his effort, his mentality, and his leadership. He is very intelligent and always offers the right words.

“If he continues at the same level from now until the end of the season, he has everything to win the Ballon d’Or.”

Raphinha and Brazil are in action on Tuesday in another huge World Cup qualifier as the Selecao take on world champions Argentina in Buenos Aires.
