What Bassey said
Bassey participated in the “this or that” game that has become a staple interview format on social media nowadays. The game, as used in this context, pitted two legendary Premier League defenders together, and Bassey was tasked with picking the better.
The former Ajax man picked Rio Ferdinand over the likes of Jaap Stam, Ledley King, William Saliba, Ruben Dias, Kolo Toure, and even Ricardo Carvalho.

However, when he was put up against Virgil Van Dijk, Bassey wasted no time naming the Netherlands international. He picked the Liverpool star over Jamie Carragher, Sol Campbell, John Terry, Tony Adams, Nemanja, and even Nemanja Vidic.
He made it clear that he would pick the former Southampton man over any defender in Premier League history, saying, “No one beats Virgil for me; he's the best.”
