‘I can confirm that it's me’ - Ex-Arsenal star Bendtner caught up in a stab**ng incident with friends
Bendtner, who had played for Tarnby FF of the Danish fourth level for a short time, announced his retirement in June 2021.
Before his retirement, he played for Arsenal, scoring 45 goals in 171 appearances in his nine seasons at the club.
However, the forward, who has been known for his controversial lifestyle off the pitch, was involved in a knife attack.
Bendtner attacked
Last week, the former Arsenal player was in New York with some buddies when one of them was stabbed.
Last Wednesday, Denmark international Bendtner was spotted strolling with friends on Manhattan's upscale Upper West Side, according to CCTV footage.
Suddenly, a bearded man can be seen sprinting in the direction of the gathering before he leaves.
A 55-year-old former Danish football player was treated at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York after suffering facial and ear injuries in the incident.
Speaking after the incident, Bendtner was asked if it was him in the footage, he told Ekstra Bladet, "Yes, I can confirm that it is me in the video.
"Could it have been me who was attacked? I have no comment about that. But I can confirm that it's me on the video - it's hard to run away from.
“The victim, a former professional soccer player, was walking with friends. But I can confirm that it's me on the video - it's hard to run away from."
Joshua Zinberg, a local, was taken into custody the next day and is accused of assault and attempted murder.
Meanwhile, Bendtner’s former club, Arsenal, defeated high-flying Nottingham Forest 3-0 at the Emirates to end their four-game winless streak and keep their title hopes alive.
