I Can't Believe This Club Still Has Fans - Journalist trolls Chelsea after draw vs 10-man Burnley
Nigerian journalist Kelechi Ayoola didn't mince words in his scathing assessment of Chelsea's performance in their 2-2 draw against Burnley on Saturday.
The Blues twice took the lead through Cole Palmer but were pegged back by a resilient 10-man Burnley side at Stamford Bridge.
Dara O'Shea's 87th minute equaliser ensured it was another case of two points dropped for Mauricio Pochettino's expensively-assembled squad.
And the result proved too much for Ayoola to stomach, with the respected reporter taking to social media to vent his frustration at Chelsea's latest shortcoming.
"I can't believe this club still has fans," he posted bluntly in the aftermath.
Expensive Frontline Misfires Again
Ayoola's fury likely stemmed from Chelsea's inability to put away a Burnley team reduced to 10 men for over an hour at Stamford Bridge.
The hosts' misfiring multi-million front line of Nicolas Jackson, Raheem Sterling and Mykhailo Mudryk again failed to fire.
Despite the arrival of Pochettino as the club's manager, it’s been a turbulent campaign for Chelsea, who are no nearer to solving their attacking woes.
With just 10 games left, the Blues remain 11th on the table and look set for another outside top-four Premier League finish and Champions League qualification.
Fan Apathy Understandable
While Ayoola's savage comments may appear harsh, they capture the growing apathy many fans are feeling towards Chelsea's slumping standards.
With over 750 million pounds investment from their new American owners, much more was expected than tame draws against relegation-threatened teams.
Unless Chelsea can arrest their concerning on-pitch trajectory, empty seats and further derision are likely to become a common sight at Stamford Bridge.
