I want him to stay — Ola Aina opens up on teammate amid Man City, Spurs links
Nottingham Forest’s Ola Aina has praised his teammate Morgan Gibbs-White for his contributions to the club despite talks of a potential exit.
The English midfielder has elevated Forest from Premier League underdogs to contenders for European qualification. Gibbs-White’s leadership shone through as he captained the Reds to their best Premier League finish in nearly 30 years last season.
Despite transfer interest from Tottenham Hotspur, winners of the UEFA Europa League, and Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City, Aina insists Gibbs-White’s legacy at the City Ground will remain strong.
“Never. I don’t think it would be forgotten. He’s a terrific player and his football speaks for itself,” Aina told Nottinghamshire Live.
The 28-year-old Super Eagles star, a versatile full-back, expressed his desire for Gibbs-White to stay but acknowledged his limited influence over the situation.
“Of course I would (want him to stay). But I don’t know what’s going on. You’d have to ask Morgan,” he said, adding,
“We have a bit of banter about stuff like that! But it’s that person’s business.”
