"I don't like how it all ended. I don't think it's right to protest like that and refuse to play for a club that pays your wages and with whom you have a contract.

"I understand when a club wants to sell a player, but they are the ones paying you. When you sign a contract, you are obligated to honour it," said Shearer, as reported by Sportal.

"Alexander Isak is a good player who has moved to a top team. I have no doubt that Liverpool will be a serious contender for every possible trophy. However, as I said, I didn't like the way this saga unfolded at all. I thank him for what he brought to Newcastle, but he created a big mess over the summer," he continued.

"Nobody won from this. The situation itself is damaging to the image of football and to the fans, because they are the foundation of this great game.

"It's not right for a club to pay you and for you to refuse to play. In the end, he got the transfer he wanted," concluded the former Newcastle striker.
