‘It’s a great team’ - Former Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr dismisses chance of revenge

The former head coach will face his former team in Abijan for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
Gernot Rohr on Super Eagles clash
Republic of Benin coach Gernot Rohr addressed the media in Abidjan ahead of their 2026 World Cup qualifying match against the Super Eagles.
Before the match on matchday four, Rohr's resolve to make a statement after his controversial exit from the Super Eagles has dominated much of the conversation.
The Cheetahs are feeling positive going into their 2026 World Cup qualifying match against the Super Eagles, having defeated Rwanda to earn their first Group C victory.
Despite winning their most recent game against Rwanda, Rohr has maintained that the Cheetahs should be viewed as underdogs against Nigeria on Monday night.
According to Bjfoot, the German manager said, "We've been here practically two weeks. We were not complete but we were able to prepare for the two matches.
"We have the chance to play here (Abidjan) tomorrow against Nigeria, a high-level match. We know it’s a great team. We are outsiders. There is no revenge to be taken.”
