In an emotional moment that has delighted Nigerian football fans, legendary Super Eagles coach Clemens Westerhof reunited with one of his most iconic players, Austin “Jay Jay” Okocha, during a visit to Lagos.
Westerhof, who shared the special occasion on Instagram, described the evening as an “unforgettable night” spent with Okocha and his wife, Lillian, who hosted the Dutch coach and his partner.
“With my boy Jay Jay Okocha, thank you for hosting me and my wife Lillian. It was a pleasure to reconnect and share the good old days,” Westerhof wrote, tagging Jay Jay, described as Nigeria's greatest legend.
Their reunion brought back memories of the 1990s, a golden era for Nigerian football, when Westerhof led the Super Eagles to glory and handed Okocha his debut in the national team.
Under the Dutchgerian guidance, Nigeria won the AFCON in 1994 and impressed on the world stage during their first-ever FIFA World Cup in the same year.
