Kitara coach Brian Ssenyondo 'congratulates' referee after defeat to Vipers

Visibly frustrated, Kitara Football Club head coach Brian Ssenyondo went sarcastic on the match officials as his team lost 2-1 to Vipers SC on Thursday at the St Mary's Stadium, Kitende.

The tactician thought his team had snatched a point at the death when Dudu Ramadhan headed in a Living Kabon freekick, but it was called for offside by assistant referee Juma Osire.

And in the post-match press conference, Ssenyondo who had initially desisted from commenting about the referees, was later forced into a 'tactical' jibe.

"I don't comment on referees, they are the referees and they decide the game," the tactician initially stated before later conceding after being pressed.

"For us we have to play to score goals, the referees count or cancel the goals, so the referees decided that the goal should not stand."

"And they (referees) did their job, well-done to the referees," he congratulated with a rather sneering tone before reiterating:

"I'm not a referee, I coach the team to score goals and we scored two so the referees have done their job, well-done to them."

Meanwhile, following the result, Kitara descended to fourth on the 16-team table with 19 points out of a possible 30.

They will host seven-time Uganda Premier League champions Express FC in their next match on December 12 at the Masindi Playgrounds.
