LaLiga racist EXPOSED and convicted as Ghanaian superstar gets brutal justice - Athletic star's abuser gets HAMMERED
A landmark victory against racism in Spanish football was secured as a LaLiga supporter was convicted for racially abusing Athletic Bilbao’s Ghanaian star, Inaki Williams.
The incident, which took place five years ago, has culminated in a 12-month suspended prison sentence for the offender, alongside a three-year ban from attending football matches and a fine exceeding one thousand euros, according to Sportal.bg.
LaLiga fan pays price for racism
The convicted individual, an Espanyol fan, was caught making monkey noises and aggressive gestures towards the African MVP winner Williams during a January 2020 away match in the domestic league when the striker was substituted.
While Espanyol fans reported that about 12 people participated in the racial abuse, the authorities could identify and prosecute only one offender.
This conviction is part of a broader crackdown on racism in LaLiga. In recent years, there have been multiple convictions related to racial abuse.
In May, five Valladolid fans were found guilty of abusing Real Madrid’s Vinicius Junior, and in 2024, three Valencia fans received eight-month prison sentences for discriminatory behavior towards the same player.
Additionally, earlier this year, the match between Athletic Bilbao and Espanyol was temporarily halted due to racist incidents.
The conviction of the Espanyol fan marks a significant step toward justice for naki Williams and highlights Spain’s intensified efforts to combat racism in football, sending a strong message that such behavior will not be tolerated.
