The move comes just days after Newcastle secured the signing of German striker Nick Woltemade, paving the way for Isak’s departure.
Talks between Liverpool and Newcastle had stalled earlier in the summer after an initial £110 million bid was rejected, but renewed discussions in the buildup to deadline day finally produced a breakthrough.
Six-Year deal at Anfield
Isak has already agreed personal terms on a six-year contract with the Premier League champions. The Swedish international had made clear to Newcastle his desire to join new Liverpool head coach Arne Slot, seeing the move as a major step in his career.
For Liverpool, the 25-year-old forward represents the centrepiece of a busy summer of recruitment, with Isak now set to spearhead their attack for years to come.
Record-Breaking move
The £125 million fee eclipses the previous British record and underscores Liverpool’s intent to refresh their attack as they look to defend their Premier League crown.
Barring any late setbacks, Isak will be unveiled this week as Liverpool’s new No. 9, ready to begin a new chapter at Anfield.
